The Gospel of Luke

Have you ever known a believer who twisted the truth in order to justify themselves?

They used vague and subtle verses to persuade you, but you knew that something seemed off.

It is nothing new, in fact, the Pharisees in Jesus’ time did the same thing.

Come and see what Jesus had to say about such people.

Read Luke 16:14-18.

The Pharisees put on the mantle of religiousness, but were they truly living righteous lives?

They sat in the seat of power, respect, and honor, but had no real desire to follow God.

They twisted God’s Word in order to justify their sin, as well as the sins of others, and were found guilty of leading the people astray.

Today, there are still people following the Pharisees; those who justify their sin, and go out of their way to fool the masses into doing the same.

For it is just as the Apostle John shared with us here:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
-1 John 4:1

So what does that mean for you? How can you identify false teaching when it comes?

By knowing the truth for yourself. By studying the Word of God, and asking the Holy Spirit to lead you into a greater understanding of God’s Word.

Just as Jesus said, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
