The Gospel of Luke

Before we go any further today, take a moment to evaluate yourself with these few questions:

Do you sin?

Does it follow you no matter how hard you flee from it?

Or are you without sin? Righteous and good?

Your answers speak volumes about your faith.

Read Luke 7:41-50.

This man made a vital mistake.

He assumed he was without sin, righteous in and of himself.

The sad part is, that very assumption was his most deadly sin, far more so than any sin that woman ever committed.

For the truth is, we are all inherently sinful, it is our very nature, but to assume we are righteous by our own effort and pride leads us to the very thing that condemns us, unrepentance.

Jesus’ disciple, John, wrote this concerning our sin:

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
-1 John 1:8-9

Today, do not deceive yourself, but truly reflect upon your life while being transparent and honest with yourself; what sin do you have?

What sin must you confess to Jesus and repent of? Do not ignore it, nor cover it up, but repent and be saved.

For at the end of the day, our goal is not to be like this self-righteous man, but like this woman who humbled herself before all, declaring her love for Christ.

Which shall you be today?

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
