The Christian Conduct of Corinthians

Sex may be a hot and corrupted topic of our culture and it’s all too clear how twisted and wrong it has become, but have you ever wondered about what God’s heart concerning it is?

Afterall, He did invent it!

Continue with today’s reading, have your mind renewed, and be refreshed and filled by what the Apostle Paul had to share with this young Corinthian Church.

Read 1 Corinthians 7:1-5.

The Church throughout the years has committed over and over this same mistake that the Corinthians were, that somehow, sex must be bad, unclean, and unholy, but how wrong that is!

The world may have gotten ahold of it and corrupted God’s intent for it, but that by no means changes God’s original desire for it and His people.

And as we read here, His heart is that no matter what the world does, sex is a precious gift in marriage, meant to be thoroughly enjoyed.

God shares with us here that both husband and wife are to enjoy, thrive, and take hold of this precious gift without any shame at all!

So much so, whether you believe it or not, that God desires a married couple to participate in this intimate act on a daily basis!

It isn’t dirty, embarrassing, or only for reproduction as many try to insist, but for the genuine good of His people.

So today, for you, if you have ever been taught otherwise, struggle with, or even have marriage to look forward to, know that the marriage bed before the Lord is blessed, a precious gift that must not be abused or pushed to the wayside, but sought diligently for the good and favor of those who God has given into marriage!

Be refreshed by this passage, let it renew your mind and spirit, and praise the Lord this day!

Reflection Questions:

Have you ever been taught anything other than what was written to the Corinthians concerning sex in marriage?

Does your marriage mirror what is taught here?

In what ways can you go about following the Lord even in this?

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
