Judas never truly belonged to Jesus, but what about Peter?

Peter said he would die for Jesus if he needed to, but here he is, embarrassed, too afraid of the crowd to confess his faith.

How often do we find ourselves like Peter?

We love Jesus, we spend our days following Him but are too embarrassed to speak His name to unbelievers. When they mock Him, we are too concerned for our own approval than to defend His.

We keep our peace, we stay quiet and convince ourselves it is to not offend and scare them away, but silently inwardly, we know that Jesus is looking at us, just as He looked to Peter that night.

We know that we are grieving His heart, and yet, paralyzed, hold our words to ourselves.

Therefore, let us ask ourselves a question.

Is that the kind of faith we desire to have?

Do we desire to be ashamed of Jesus, or to stand boldly with Him, even if it costs us?

After the events of those outer courts that night, Peter put his shame behind him to become the leader of the newly-born Church to work miracles and wonders in the name of Jesus.

Let us also stand tall, bold in our faith, ready for even the worst of persecution, and be proud of the name by which we are saved, the name of Jesus!

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
