The Gospel of Luke

Read Luke 22:63-71.

Jesus was beaten, mocked, and derided.

Though innocent, He did not argue, nor fight back, but silently endured the wrath of the self-righteous.

As He demonstrated His own words, He showed us what it looks like to turn the other cheek:

“”You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
-Matthew 5:38-39

For us, He took it all and endured the shame.

Therefore, as you read these words, take a moment to dwell on this moment. Reflect on Jesus as He endured the shame for your sake. As He was beaten and mocked, but opened not His mouth.

For if the day were to come when you may endure the same for His name, will you open your mouth in protest, or will you pick up your cross and follow Him?

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.”
-Isaiah 53:7

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
