The Gospel of Luke

Read Luke 22:47-53.

Judas, though a beloved disciple, did not truly love Jesus.

He was among the disciples, but not really one of them.

Though he played the part, when push came to shove, he was proven as never having belonged to Jesus.

Just like his kiss of betrayal, he was a poser from the start, a friend who betrayed Jesus the moment the time was right.

This begs the question, how many “Christians” go to church, say they love Jesus but have never really belonged to Him?

Jesus’ words ought to make us all tremble with inward fear for our souls:

“On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”
-Matthew 7:22-23

Today, allow this example to shake you and complete its work within you.

Observe your heart, your motives, your faith, do you truly believe in Jesus? Is your faith in Him? Does your heart and soul belong to Him to the extent that you are not only among Him, but are of Him?

Do not be a Judas, do not pose as a christian, but truly love Jesus, and when you kiss Him, let it be true, let it be genuine, for this is what true faith requires of you.

“Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
-Psalm 2:11-12

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
