Judas, known for his greed, was dissatisfied with Jesus’ definition of the Kingdom of God.

And like any sin or form of discontentment, it became a foothold that Satan took advantage of.

An access point, a break in the wall, a weakness in Judas that the enemy used to destroy his faith and cause even greater sin.

There are many forms of footholds that can take root in our hearts, from greed, pride, lust, bitterness, and the list goes on.

These footholds are unchecked sins in our lives that if not submitted to God, will be a place where the Enemy erodes our faith, breaks us down, and unravels us from the inside out.

The Apostle Peter, the man who denied Jesus three times on the night of Jesus’ arrest, wrote these words for our instruction:

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
-1 Peter 5:8

Today, take a few moments and reflect on this lesson handed down to us from the two disciples, and ask yourself, do you have any footholds in your life? Do you struggle with any forms of unresolved sin that threaten your spiritual health?

Expose them, confess, and submit them to the Lord, and though slowly, be healed in the name of Jesus, and give no more opportunity to the devil!

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
