The Gospel of Luke

Read Luke 23:1-25.

On one side we have Jesus, the innocent Son of God.

On the other, we have Barabbas, an insurrectionist and murderer.

Jesus was ordered to death, and Barabbas was set free.

As we read these words, we may be tempted to rage and question how such an appalling thing could happen.

We may even be tempted to demand justice; the innocent are declared guilty while the guilty are set free.

But then, are we not Barabbas? Is Barabbas, not us? The guilty set free?

Are you not the one that Jesus represented that day as He was nailed to the cross?

Take a few minutes to reflect on this, how Barabbas represented you on that day all those years ago. How Jesus, though innocent and perfect, took on the condemnation of sinners, to die for our sins so we may live.

This is freedom, this is the glory of God, therefore praise Him this day!

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
