Love one another!

John is repeating himself over and over again not because he himself values this command, but because God does. To get a better idea of this, let us look to Jesus Himself when He taught this to His disciples:

“And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.””
-Matthew 22:35-40

Once again, love one another!

God epitomizes this as one of the only two commands He gives His people, that’s how important it is to get this right!

So take a moment now and evaluate yourself concerning this command. Are you loving others? Are you integrated and plugged into the Church, His body and people and are involved in relationships that glorify God to the world through love?

This can’t be overlooked or negated, neither for others nor even for you, for in all honesty, your spiritual health and faith critically depends on being connected and doing life with other believers.

So what are you waiting for? In what way can you get involved with other believers and begin forging relationships that puts God’s love into practice?

And how can you go out of your way to start lavishing others with the same kind of love that God has and continues to demonstrate to you each and every day?

This is the command you have been given, therefore go, love one another, as Jesus has loved you!

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
