A Heart Problem

Since the beginning of time, man has struggled against a common enemy.

Ourselves, our hearts, but more specifically, something we all know too well, sin.

The Apostle Paul sums up well what this jumbled mess within us looks and feels like when he put it like this:

“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.”
-Romans 7:15-20

This problem of sin that plagues us has been responsible for all the world’s problems ever since our ancestors chose to disobey God and brought upon themselves a curse, the curse of sin.

When Adam and Eve fell, they took upon themselves a perverted nature that has adhered itself to all of mankind ever since.

It is this same nature that tortures us today, leading even the best of us into doing that which is wrong before God, ultimately leading us to death.

But what exactly is a sin to begin with? For us to understand this problem that we observe in our world today, that is the question we must come to know.

What is sin? Why does it matter?

Come and see.

Christian

Since coming to faith as a young college student, God’s lead has taken me around the world and back. Today, my passion is clearer than ever; my heart hurts for the lost, but it burns for the Church. My deepest desire is to equip the Church to be the body, working together to see people’s lives be redeemed in the name of Jesus. My name is Christian and my wife, Emily and I have been married for 6 years and have a little one named Amelia. Together, we’re fully committed to following Jesus to where ever He leads us.
